The 1975 through 1980 models, all two-door hatchbacks, were built on the subcompact, rear-wheel drive H-body platform. The 1982 through 1989 models were built on the compact, front-wheel drive J-car platform that was available in four body styles: two-door sedan and hatchback, as well as four-door sedan and station wagon. The Skyhawk was Buick's badge engineered entry-level version of the Chevrolet Monza, which was a revised, second generation Chevrolet Vega.
